Business Transformation
Digital is to people and process transformation as Robin is to Batman; sidekick to superhero; effective on their own, but most valuable as part of a team. Recently, our industry has focused too much on the sidekick and is at risk of losing sight of the real transformation required; that of the skilled and dedicated people who make up the construction industry, along with the frameworks, processes and skills that enable them to deliver for clients. Increased digitalisation is recognised as critical to meeting the challenges the construction industry faces. There is however a hyper-focus on rapid digitalisation and everyone is racing to 'do' digital. Too often it is a case of ‘I have a digital solution, now where is my problem’. In the phrase ‘digital transformation’, the most important word is not ‘digital’. We need to refocus our efforts on the people and processes affected, and the business outcomes that the transformation enables. Our talk will look at the ways in which companies can structure their approach to transformation to embrace the opportunities of ‘digital’, and to put their clients and colleagues (current and future) at the heart of the question, “How do we do what we do, better?”
