City-scale ‘Digital Twins’: Scaling up current practices for future success
The ‘Digital Built Britain’ dream is still strong, but when individual projects are continuously getting it wrong on a single building, how will we ever manage to scale the ‘Digital Twin’ up to a city, let alone a nation?
Using ‘Digital Twins’ for Estates Management has enabled the University of Birmingham to gain insight and better client engagement at all stages of a project, from the early concept phase through to operation of the delivered asset. However, even with a portfolio as controlled as a University campus there are challenges let alone adopting this to a city.
Working together, the University of Birmingham and Fulcro have started to look into how a ‘Digital Twin’ of the University Estates could be applied to the management and operation of a city.
This case study will demonstrate how technologies from Common Data Environments through to immersive VR BIM CAVE’s can help a facilities team realise the potential of their built asset, whilst working more efficiently.
Come and hear from the client and technology provider on how the ‘Campus of the Future’ could lead to finally realising a ‘Digital Built Britain’.
