Close the gap! How digital construction can create equitable workplaces
16 Oct 2019
How is your organisation working to close gender gaps? Is your organisation ready to comply with national and organisational gender equity and inclusivity policies? How can digital construction support you and your organisation in improving diversity and inclusion? In this session, you will explore unconscious bias and the differences in workplace psychology between digital and traditional face to face environments. An anonymous, interactive quiz will reveal the audience’s perceptions of women in construction and a lively discussion will explore how gender diversity can influence construction projects. The potential for Construction 4.0 to close the gender gap will be examined, highlighting how the digital tools you already use can offer opportunities for organisations and individuals to support more equitable workplaces and careers in construction. Research knowledge from a recent project developed by coLAB in conjunction with the University of Central Lancashire will be presented to highlight how construction managers, human resources teams, project teams, and professionals can lever digital construction tools for a more diverse, inclusive, and high performing project team.
