COBie; What When and How (Panel)

BIM

As an industry we have come a long way with our understanding of effective BIM implementation but for many its value is still only recognised at design and construction phase.   However, BIM’s real potential should be seen in the operation and maintenance stage of a built asset where over 80% of the expenses arise.  Structured data at the design and build phase is critical when thinking about an asset’s lifecycle, and its efficient operation and maintenance.   COBie is one way of structuring data and was chosen by the UK Government because it offered flexibility, accessibility and rigour.  However, understanding what COBie is and isn’t and ensuring everyone engages with the process can be difficult.

Our panel of experts will provide a crash course on COBie and why it is important before exploring the current common problems in managing COBie asset data in the supply chain and how to avoid them.  The explain why digitising the supply chain doesn't need to be painful and that Information Management is nothing to fear.  Helping you understand the importance of uniformity between model and O&M information and how collaboration can benefit the asset data management process across all stages of building lifecycle.
