Delivering Digital Twins
16 Oct 2019
A fundamental part of the UK BIM strategy is migrating data from the design and construction phases into the Facilities Management (FM) systems and for on-going Operations. With the focus on developing automation and efficiency. The Industry has shown great advancements utilising tools in design and construction, however there is still much work needed to optimise handover, commissioning, asset/facilities management as well as operational performance. The value proposition for the OPEX shows the greatest opportunity. Part of this opportunity is indicated in PwC's BIM Level 2 Benefits Measurement 2018 report (Application of PwC's BIM Level 2 Benefits Measurement Methodology to Public Sector Capital Assets). This paper measured the BIM data benefits on Capital Assets up to 4 times during operations and with a forecast 15-20% asset lifecycle savings. This is just the start of the opportunity, connecting systems, IoT and data repositories opens the possibility of validating and improving on these forecast savings. This session will be a combination of live demonstration and presentation material. We will look at BIM for FM, focusing on the Asset Information Modelling (AIM), connected data and Digital Twins. Showing case studies from international projects, including the Sydney Opera House and Hong Kong MTR.
