Designing Differently

How can we design differently? For a long time we have drawn by hand whether on a computer in 3D or with pencil and paper. In this presentation I present research demonstrating the generation of entire BIM models using shape grammars, a technology also used by ESRI City Engine, allowing your computer to do the drawing, instead of you. I also present new ideas on bringing the business models employed by the video games industry to construction software, and describe how BIM built on a video game engine could create a single tool for every design task. I hope to provide an exciting glimpse at how I see the future of engineering software, and show that you too can realise your mad ideas, much like I have.
