DigiSet - Setting Out in the Digital Age
17 Oct 2019
This session will provide an understanding how digital technologies can be used to improve the productivity of traditional setting out enhancing the speed and quality assurance of the process. Traditionally the setting-out and checking process can be a time consuming task, it is easy to make errors from interpretation of drawings which are possibly out of date and there is often little communication along the supply chain, sometimes leading to incorrect positioning of components, delays and expensive re-work. The AMRC worked on an innovate funded project to develop on-site projection technology to improve productivity and right first time quality. Upon completion of this project. DigiSet has been developed further in conjunction with a leading Tier 1 company. DigiSet is a projection system that is used for projecting digital data directly on the work surface. The use case for this equipment is to project drawings for fit out of equipment on to the wall or ceilings of the room and also can be used for comparing the work completed to the drawing. The DigiSet project uses proven technologies from sectors such aerospace, automotive and composites.
