PCSG, MK9 Development and the Construction Products Association (CPA) have joined forces to deliver a model for a digitally connected supply chain, to understand the detail of a supply chain to enable better decision-making, and to link this to outcomes-based procurement. Bringing expertise in outcomes-based procurement from other industries including transport, healthcare and recruitment where average cost savings of 8 percent have been delivered, the approach has also demonstrated a greater than 90 percent success rate in delivering products or services to the right quality, the right time and the right price. The construction supply chain presents a new challenge for the methodology, and due to its complexity and fragmented nature, new digital models and technologies are required to deliver the benefits. The model incorporates systemisation, service life planning, whole life costing in addition to new schemas for the consistent definition and testing of outcomes along with the development of a methodology for benefits measurement for systemisation, along with a significant supporting evidence base.
