Problems with construction skills shortages and future skills needs are well-documented. Trade literature and published reports are replete, sometimes ad nauseum, with recommendations of what needs to be done; but it is only recently that we can start to see how this may be achieved.

This panel session will highlight some of the current skills and training initiatives emerging, which are (1) breaking real ground in sorting out the poor image of the industry, and (2) aiming to fill the gaps and help realise a future construction industry that is digitally-enabled, manufacturing-based and whole-life performance-led.
