HS2’s Virtual Railway - realised benefits and lessons learned
16 Oct 2019
This presentation will present a demonstration introducing the HS2 Virtual Railway, built on PCSG’s GeoConnect+ platform, showing progress to date, some key lessons learned and HS2’s ambitions to continually build and eventually hand over the Virtual Railway as a Digital Twin for continued use during operations. HS2’s BIM Strategy Manager, Dr. Sonia Zahiroddiny will join Adrian Burgess on stage. The Virtual Railway is a ‘first of its kind’ technology that allows users to quickly navigate and find civils structures, railway systems, components and rolling stock through a web browser and then be one click away from viewing related engineering, project control and health and safety data, etc without any need for specialist applications or plug-ins. The users can intuitively search, surface and query data in one place, regardless of where it is stored. This helps to identify and solve problems quicker and make better informed decisions using trusted and accessible data. In turn, ensuring HS2 can provide the highest-quality service to their stakeholders.
