Clarity of information has always been a key ingredient to site workers to enable them to get the job done to the correct specification, on time and on budget. But what happens when the information supplied is inaccurate, missing or worse, not even there at all. Traditional 2D design information can only paint so much of the picture. What happens when work is complex? Or you have an inexperienced workforce due to labour shortages. No drawing will be good enough and you end up with reworks, stoppages and penalties. By encouraging the use of 3D rebar models within the workforce on a project as complex and as regulated as Hinkley Point C, we are demonstrating how we can build things right first time, and inspire a new generation of skilled workforce. In this session, I will show you how we turned the most staunch “old school” workers into a digital workforce craving 3D models and tablets. And how using technology on site can appeal to the next generation coming into the industry to help fill the skills gap.
