This presentation will both present the state of the art in collaborative design workflows and introduce the AEC Delta Mobility project that has been funded by InnovateUK to increase productivity, performance and quality in the construction industry and to iron out the data exchange processes in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) sector. The project addresses data exchange in an open-source manner and gathers multiple industry partners and collaborators in a consortium, including Buro Happold, 3D Repo, Speckle Works and Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, with external support from HOK, Atkins (SNC Lavalin) and Arup. The team directs its research and development efforts towards solving the inefficient processes during which the software end-users (architects, engineers and fabricators) manually exchange large files and 3D models to communicate design changes (deltas) among themselves. The session will focus more particularly on the open-source AEC design and communication platform Speckle by showcasing multiple case studies.
