The A14 is trialling “Trimble SiteVision” a Trimble mixed reality solution led by Mark Lawton, A14 survey Manager and Skanska Chief Engineering Surveyor. This is funded by Highways England.

I have had the unique opportunity to be part of the Trimble SiteVision Early Experience Program (EEP) which offers users access to experimental blended technology to deliver solutions, for our industry and profession.

I believe that removing communication problems in the field, related to visualisation and understanding of digital data is one of our greatest opportunities.

Drawings have been used for years to explain where the utilities and structures are in the real world. This requires good drawing comprehensive and the ability to visualise the drawn data in the real world.

Imagine the amount of knowledge required to assimilate multiple drawings from many design disciplines and utility providers for a potential construction project. And then imagine trying to visualise this in the field beyond a conventional 3D model in the field live.

This is where Trimble Site Vision and mixed reality will possibly deliver clarity in communications in the field.

The session will inform you of our current progress on the A14 and usage in a construction environment raising your awareness of mixed reality to provide safer, collaborative, digital work sites.
