What We Don't Talk About, When We Talk About Digital

Exploring the 'f' word... According to research on failure and change, 70% of change initiatives fail and 50% in the initial stage of adoption. Now, this shocking piece of data alone would discourage most from introducing any new processes or technology in any industry, let alone in a risk advert industry like construction. Indeed justifying to continue in the ‘business as usual’ manner. We are all familiar with that story. But what about another story; the story of innovation often so tightly connected to failure, almost glorifying it as a source of ideas, resilience and ultimate success! According to Einstein ‘failure is a success in progress’. In my talk I wish to explore this bleak statistic and identify reasons for this failure rhetoric and what it means to innovation and progress. I am then, going to introduce some practical ways of preparing for change, implementing and continuing with it in a context of digital construction.
