The Satellite based Structural Health Monitoring is an innovative approach that utilises satellite derived measurements (principally Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) analysis) of displacement with 3D Building Information Model (BIM) and expands the utility of InSAR beyond its conventional monitoring application. This new capability is centred on early warning and prediction and by incorporating InSAR into structural stability algorithms, it allows asset condition to be highlighted, thus aiding asset management for multiple assets and achieving lower per-asset cost. This approach of a remote sensing structural health monitoring service doesn’t need any in-situ work, allows monitoring in difficult to access and hazardous environments and doesn’t require any asset downtime.

The approach has been designed with active engagement with two major asset owners from Energy and Transport infrastructure sectors.
