Shaping Spaces: Connecting Geography to Decision-Making
Since joining Knight Frank in 2014 Ian McGuinness has led the firm’s Geospatial Team, a research specialism which has made digital mapping both a tool to explore, and a language to explain, the interconnected facets of the property market. The growth of this capability within the firm has brought about stronger lateral relationships between client service functions, with geography increasingly placed centre-stage.
Ian talks about how the combination of people skill, technology and richly attributed data offers a new way of approaching and solving problems for clients, as well as how mapping portals now place investment metrics into the hands of developers. He outlines an increasing appetite for spatial data from his client base, and presents issues for consideration in harnessing the potential of this resource across the wider property market.
