Computational Hackademies

17 Oct 2018
Skills Hub

Our mass participation in computational engineering has taken the collective engineering knowledge of 1800 individuals to co-create our code base. This was achieved through initial ‘hackademy’ kick off events in cities globally, explaining spaces of code, projects and community involvement followed by individual discipline group break-out sessions to understand group code needs. This extended to administrative staff who looked at handling repetitive tasks using VBA and Microsoft Flow. Evening session’s upskilled and inspired each group in the uses of visual programming, with offices hosting training sessions in Revit, dynamo, grasshopper and visual studio using a “BIM boot camp” approach.

By sparking people’s interest though getting their hands on the code via training and hacks, it has left our staff with the confidence to go into their projects and apply scripts and code.
