Giulio Antonutto

Associate Director, ARUP

Giulio Antonutto is an Associate Director at the Arup Lighting. He has a wide experience on high profile international lighting projects, including the California Academy of Science, the Beijing Airport Terminal 3, the Art Institute of Chicago, the YAS Marina Hotel.

His expertise ranges from electric and natural lighting design, to product design, and he has extensive experience in the use of advanced engineering tools and traditional design techniques. He has been awarded in 2007 with the G4C Innovation Award in relation to his research work on computational design optimisation for lighting and sustainability. His research has been pioneering the process of evolutionary design generation based on performance criteria. This technique has been used in several projects, providing improved designs and the possibility to solve complex multidisciplinary problems.

He has been the main lighting designer of the London Aquatics Centre, completed in July 2011, where he has contributed technically and artistically. He is currently based in London.
