James Wakefield is a creative applications development specialist for construction and Facilities Management (FM), responsible for research and development of innovative applications for safer and more productive built estate management, maintenance and operation. Researching (PhD) with Northumbria University Newcastle on behalf of his employer in the FM domain, with a view to understanding more about the potential of technology to support safer and more productive (ergo more cost effective) management and maintenance of the future built estate. Their research is being conducted in the context of the Smart and Sustainable Cities agenda in partnership with the Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND) at Keele University. SEND is Europe's first 'at scale' living laboratory where new energy-efficient technologies can be researched, developed and tested in a real world environment.
