Michael Stych

Director, ARUP

Michael Stych is an award-winning building services engineer, project leader and director at Arup. He leads Arup’s Digital Skills Network in the UK, Middle East, India and Africa regions, and the adoption of the next-generation of digital tools for its 900-strong London-based building engineering practice. As part of this he has championed the development of IoT and ‘smart’ buildings skills and technologies within the business, increasingly applying these to new projects.

Michael’s focus is in the design of innovative, low-energy building services that are responsive to the needs of users. He works closely with clients, design teams and contractors to fully achieve early-stage ambitions. His approach is always to consider the building user and to explore ways to improve function and experience.

As Arup’s Project Director for the White Collar Factory he helped developer Derwent London use technology to design the building in a radical manner, providing those working there with greater interaction with, and control over, their working environment.
