BIM Manager, UWE Bristol
United Kingdom
I thrive on finding solutions to problems, so for me I have the best job in the world. BIM, especially for use in facilities management is not well defined, the concept is simple: a model containing all building elements with imbedded data which is connected to a database for building management. The execution tends to be less straightforward. So what’s my job? Broadly speaking, I must understand my organisations data requirements, understand our ability to hold and use data (the restrictions of the CAFM system) and then create documentation (AIR and EIR) to describe these needs to our supply chain, so that UWE can receive the right data through the BIM process. Linking BIM and CAFM is one of my primary objectives.
