Biography

A Professor of Information Management in the Department of Architecture and Built Environment, Sarah teaches into all levels of the Architecture Programme as well as the department’s programmes for Environmental Engineering. She currently develops one of the University’s flagship PG qualifications for information management and modelling, delivered through an online learning route. This will be a buildingSMART accredited programme, with the University being the first accredited academic training provider in the UK.

Sarah is also the departmental Head of Education and Student Experience responsible for 900+ students. Having successfully navigated the choppy waters of Covid-19, she is now tackling the fast-moving pace of AI.

Her areas of expertise are information management and modelling and cost management following many years practising these aspects in industry. Sarah is fortunate to work with a great community of people in project managing and editing the development of guidance for the UK BIM Framework. This has reached across the world. She is also co-lead for nima’s skills development workstream, supporting the BIM Academic Forum and sits on the steering group for the UK BIM Framework.

Sarah is a Fellow of the RICS and also a member of their editorial panel for Construction Journal where she has written and edited articles featured in recent years.
Prior to joining the University, she spent 11 fantastic years with the international construction consultant Gleeds. She became a Senior Director and Head of Research and Development – an initiative which ultimately provided the platform for their digital transformation.
