Sakthy Selvakumaran

Civil Engineer & PhD Researcher, University of Cambridge
Sakthy is a Chartered Engineer who has worked across different roles, continents and cultures. These roles include designing new structures on mega-projects like Crossrail, assessment to upgrade UK infrastructure assets, and working on sites to resolve critical construction issues. She has also worked in R&D, developing new solutions and technologies to change the way infrastructure is designed, constructed and maintained. Sakthy was listed in Forbes 2016's Top 30 under 30 in Europe for her innovation work as a Civil Engineer and her focus on international development, including her volunteer role within Engineers Without Borders UK. She is currently undertaking PhD on the risk and resilience of infrastructure through remote measurement and monitoring of assets using satellites. This PhD is sponsored by EPSRC and the National Physical Laboratory, with additional sponsorship from Laing O'Rourke and support from Satellite Applications Catapult and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR).
